DJI Osmo Mobile 7 & 7P: The Ultimate Smartphone Gimbals with Built-in Tripod, Next-Gen Stabilization & Advanced Tracking
DJI has officially launched the Osmo Mobile 7 and Osmo Mobile 7P, introducing key upgrades such as a built-in retractable tripod, seventh-generation stabilization, and ActiveTrack 7.0. Both gimbals are compatible with DJI’s latest magnetic multifunctional module, which enhances subject tracking, offers new gesture controls, and includes a bi-color light. The Osmo Mobile 7 is priced at $89, while the Osmo Mobile 7P, which comes with additional features and the multifunctional module, costs $149.
DJI Osmo Mobile 7 and 7P: What’s New?
DJI, known for its innovative smartphone gimbals, has taken two and a half years to release the seventh-generation Osmo Mobile since the launch of the Osmo Mobile 6 in 2022. This time, DJI has introduced two models instead of one. Let’s dive into the details of these new smartphone gimbals.
Built-in Tripod and Compatibility
For the first time, both models feature a built-in retractable tripod, seamlessly integrated into the grip. Additionally, a ¼-inch thread remains available at the bottom when the tripod is folded. The gimbals are designed to support smartphones with the following dimensions:
- Thickness: 6.9-10mm (0.27-0.39in)
- Width: 67-84mm (2.6-3.3in)
- Weight: 170-300g (5.99-10.58oz)
The 3350mAh built-in battery offers up to 10 hours of operation and can be fully charged in approximately 2.5 hours via a USB-C port.
While both models support DJI’s magnetic multifunctional module, the Osmo Mobile 7 requires a separate purchase, whereas the Osmo Mobile 7P includes it in the package.
Key Differences: Osmo Mobile 7 vs. Osmo Mobile 7P
The Osmo Mobile 7P offers additional features over the standard model:
✅ Built-in Extension Rod (Up to 215mm)
✅ Control Wheel (For zoom and manual focus)
✅ Long Press Functionality (Adjusts brightness and color temperature of the multifunctional module’s fill light)
Despite these enhancements, the 7P is slightly heavier than the standard version.
Advanced Tracking & Gesture Controls
DJI’s ActiveTrack 7.0 ensures precise subject tracking, even in crowded environments. Additionally, Smart Capture allows the gimbal to recognize multiple subjects, letting users switch focus effortlessly with a simple tap.
Both gimbals are Apple Watch compatible, allowing users to control movements via the DJI Mimo app.
Magnetic Multifunctional Module
This new accessory enhances gimbal functionality with:
- Advanced Subject Tracking (Even in dynamic environments)
- Gesture Controls:
- ✋ Show your palm to start/stop tracking
- ✌️ Make a V gesture to take photos or start/stop video recording
- 📏 Use a double-L hand gesture to adjust framing
Additionally, the module features a bi-color fill light (2500K–6000K, max 40 lux at 0.6m/1.96ft) and functions as a microphone receiver when connected via USB-C.
However, using this module reduces battery life:
🔋 With tracking enabled and light off: ~5 hours
🔋 With tracking and max brightness: ~4 hours
Pricing & Availability
- Osmo Mobile 7: $89 (approximately 327.75 AED)
- Osmo Mobile 7P (with multifunctional module): $149 (approximately 547.24 AED)
Both models are available now.
