DJI Unveils the New Mic 3 Wireless Microphone Series

DJI is broadening its creative lineup with the introduction of the DJI Mic 3, a wireless microphone and recorder system built for creators, streamers, filmmakers, and interviewers. The series is offered in both single- and dual-user packages, providing greater versatility, professional-level functions, and smooth compatibility with cameras and mobile devices.

At the core of this release is the DJI Mic 3 system, available with one or two transmitters. Each lightweight transmitter clips onto clothing and doubles as a wireless microphone and backup recorder, with a transmission range of up to about 1,312 feet. The receiver attaches easily to DSLR or mirrorless cameras via a 3.5mm TRS cable, or connects directly to smartphones and laptops through USB-C. With a fast setup, creators can capture crisp, high-quality sound within seconds.

The Mic 3 system supports timecode input and output, embedding metadata directly into the recordings for smoother synchronization during editing. Each transmitter, or transmitter pair, captures audio in 32-bit float and Lossless Audio formats, with dual-track recording that saves both an untouched and an optimized version of the file.

Creators can further polish their audio using adaptive gain control—switching to auto mode to avoid distortion or dynamic mode for steady levels. Three built-in voice profiles—standard, warm, and bright—offer tonal customization, while a two-stage noise reduction system cuts down background distractions in loud or continuous noise environments.

Control and Connectivity

The receiver is equipped with a 1.1-inch AMOLED display and control dial, allowing quick access to gain settings, modes, and battery monitoring. Additional fine-tuning and firmware upgrades are available through the DJI Mimo app.

For maximum channel flexibility, the Mic 3 supports mono, stereo, and an innovative Quadraphonic mode that, when paired with certain Sony cameras and software, delivers four independent audio tracks for advanced mixing options. Each receiver can handle up to four transmitters simultaneously and link with as many as seven additional receivers, making it suitable for large group interviews or multi-camera productions.

Reliable Wireless and Extended Battery Life

The Mic 3 utilizes dual-band frequency hopping across 2.4 and 5.8 GHz, ensuring stable performance even in crowded RF environments. Built-in Bluetooth 5.4 also enables seamless pairing with select DJI gear, including the Osmo 360 and Osmo Action cameras.

All-Day Battery Performance

The Mic 3 is built for extended use, with smart power-saving functions such as auto-sleep and pass-through charging while connected to a smartphone. The included charging case (available with the two-person kit) boosts total system runtime to 28 hours, while also keeping all components safely stored.

Expandable System

For creators seeking flexibility, DJI offers the receiver, transmitter, and charging case as standalone units. This modular setup makes it easy to upgrade a single-person kit to a dual setup, add extra transmitters for larger productions, or scale up for multi-camera shoots. Additionally, DJI provides a Multi-Colored Windscreen Set for the Mic 3, featuring five windshields in beige, white, brown, pink, and green—helping match on-camera talent’s clothing while minimizing outdoor wind noise.
