Blackmagic Design Reveals New Products at NAB 2025
Blackmagic Design has built a reputation for unveiling impressive products and updates during their annual NAB showcase, and 2025 continues that trend. This year’s major highlights include the new PYXIS 12K cinema camera, significant enhancements in DaVinci Resolve 20, and an array of new tools aimed at improving broadcast workflows. Let’s take a closer look.
The new Blackmagic PYXIS 12K cinema camera brings the 12K sensor from the URSA Cine into a compact form factor, retaining the box-style body of the PYXIS 6K. It features an upgraded 10G Ethernet port and a faster USB-C connection, along with a wide range of open gate and high frame rate recording options. Set to launch in July, it will be offered with L, PL, or EF lens mounts. Additionally, two accessories are designed to adapt the PYXIS for broadcast environments: a Pro Handle geared toward television production that includes a stereo microphone and extended viewfinder, and a side-mounted Pro Grip featuring a zoom rocker, record button, and hand strap.
A range of exciting camera updates is coming to select Blackmagic camera models through a new software update. Among the key additions are tracking-based autofocus with face and object recognition—marking a first for Blackmagic cameras—and a prerecord feature. The prerecord function will display its duration above the record button and continuously cache footage, which is then added to the beginning of the final clip. The Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 will now also support the PYXIS monitor, and the URSA Cine 17K 65mm will be available in a body-only configuration that still includes the 8TB media module.
DaVinci Resolve 20 introduces over 100 new features, many powered by AI to streamline repetitive tasks. The new Intelliscript tool can build a complete timeline from a script—selecting optimal takes—or generate a script from transcriptions, which now support more than sixty languages. Fusion now enables subtitle animation, and an AI Music Editor can intelligently trim or extend tracks, even producing a full sound mix at a professional level.

Another notable update is Resolve’s AI Voice Convert, which can adjust pitch and emotion using four preset voice models or user-created custom voices. Enhancements to text and graphics tools, deeper Media Pool integration with Blackmagic Cloud, and expanded 3D imaging in Fusion will improve workflows for complex visuals and VR. Users can also expect improvements in Smart Frames, GPU acceleration, and noise reduction. Fairlight introduces its own AI-powered suite for advanced audio processing, and new immersive video tools are now available for Apple Vision Pro content creation.
In broadcast gear, Blackmagic has unveiled the Blackmagic Design Backup 8, a cost-effective backup solution using affordable hard drives with cloud syncing. They’ve also introduced new compact routing tools: the Videohub Mini 4×2 12G (1/3 RU with four inputs and two outputs), the Videohub Mini 6×2 12G (featuring a reference input and front emergency output), and the Videohub Mini 8×4 12G, which adds a reference output to the same feature set.
Blackmagic Design is also expanding its lineup of standards converters and switchers. A new 2110 IP UpDownCross 12G Converter is on the way, featuring both HDMI and SDI support—ideal for bridging traditional and IP-based workflows. Additional SDI and HDMI adapters are also being introduced, along with the powerful new DeckLink IP 100G for ultra-high-bandwidth capture and playback over IP.
Meanwhile, the ATEM Constellation switcher family is growing with the launch of the 4 M/E Constellation 4K Plus. This new model doubles the input and output count of the current 4 M/E Constellation, offering an impressive 80 inputs, each with its own independent standards converter, and 48 outputs, all capable of embedding timecode—a major upgrade for large-scale broadcast productions.
The newly announced HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro is a versatile recording powerhouse featuring a built-in 7″ touchscreen and the ability to simultaneously record UHD and proxy files. Beyond basic recording, it doubles as a media player, teleprompter assist, keyer assist, and more—thanks to its intuitive touchscreen interface and a wide range of input/output options. It’s available in two versions: with or without 2TB of internal storage, offering flexibility depending on your workflow needs.
Additionally, the new ATEM Micro Camera Panel is a compact professional controller designed for camera control in live production environments. It features dedicated buttons and knobs for quick access to essential settings, and Bluetooth functionality for wireless convenience—perfect for streamlining control in fast-paced production setups.
The ATEM Mini Extreme ISO G2 brings an exciting upgrade to one of Blackmagic’s most popular products, featuring a wider design, improved buttons, a 10G Ethernet port, CFexpress support, a manual transition fader, two media players, and customizable input buttons. Additionally, there are software updates, including extra keyers and replay features. Blackmagic Web Presenters have been renamed Streaming Encoders, still offered in both HD and 4K options. The new Streaming Decoder 4K provides HDMI and SDI outputs, along with tally and camera control functionalities.
Blackmagic’s Stream Router cloud software is receiving an upgrade to include support for smartphone cameras, among other enhancements. The DaVinci Resolve Monitor app will also be available soon. The Blackmagic Cloud suite is expanding with features such as enhanced live production support, and Cloud Storage is now more versatile with folder organization and sharing capabilities. The new ATEM Cloud functions as a software-based 1 M/E Constellation with three streaming outputs and can integrate with hardware switchers and ATEM Software Control.
